Writing Programs for Kindergarten????

I'm interested in the writing programs that everyone uses in their classrooms. We do not have anything in place. I'm looking for some suggestions to offer to my principal, so I'm looking to the experts - PT users!

Can't wait to hear about your favorites.

We (kinders) start the year with Talking, Drawing, Writing and then move into Calkin's Writer's Workshop Units of Study. The Workshop model is taught ll through our elementary schools.

We use the Lucy Calkins Writers Workshop program as well. I really like it and I think it makes the students stronger writers. I would highly recommend.

Kidwriting is by far the best for kindergarten.

my website, including on my writing page. There are videos to watch, a very reasonable writing program for $15 for teachers who need something good now from Julie Black, and more info on Kid Writing, Lucy Calkins, etc.

Check it out here: http://beehappykinder.shutterfly.com/writingnews You can request the password through the Shutterfly site.

Scroll down to the Resources section on that page.

Hope this helps!

We have the above program in place at our school. However, my co-teacher and I are having a hard time implementing it at the Kindergarten Level. Can you give me some pointers?
