Shel has a fun poem about taking a snowball to bed........I can't remember it all. I will have to get back to you on that one.

Here is another one that I have now. I don't know the author...

Iím a Friendly Snowman by: ???
Iím a friendly snowman big and fat,
Here is my tummy and here is my hat.
Iím a happy fellow, here is my nose,
Iím all snow from my head to my toes.
I have two bright eyes so I can see,
All the snow falling down on me.
When the weatherís cold, Iím strong and tall,
But when itís warm, I get very small.

How to Talk to Your Snowman by: ????
Use words that are pleasing
like freezing
and snow.

Iceberg and igloo
and blizzard
and blow.

Try Arctic, Antarctica
Say: shiver
and shake

but whatever you
never say,
Never say: bake.

A Chubby Snowman by: ???

A chubby little snowman
Had a carrot for a nose.

Along came a bunny
And what do you suppose?

That funny little bunny
Was looking for his lunch.

So he ate the snowmanís nose,
Nibble, nibble crunch!

K's love this! Put motions to it.

I made myself a snowball
As perfect as can be
I thought I'd keep it as a pet
And let it sleep with me

I made it some pajamas
And a pillow for its head
Then last night it ran away
But first it wet my bed

I'm a little snowman poem

Here's one that you can sing to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot".

I'm a little snowman
Short and fat.

Here is my nose
And here is my hat.

When the sun comes out
I cannot play.

I just simply melt away!

For this poem, I have 5 pictures of snowmen on card stock and a sun. The kids love to act out this poem using the snowmen and sun:
Five Little Snowmen

Five Little Snowmen
All made of snow.
Five Little Snowmen
Standing in a row.
The sun came out
and stayed all day.
And one little snowman
melted away.
Then you do four, then three, etc...
The students who are the snowmen start this poem standing with the sun standing behind the fifth snowman. When they say, "the sun came out", the child raises the sun above the other child's head and that child "melts" (sits down). Then, the sun moves to the next snowman. Hope I didn't confuse you too much!

Snowman Poem

Shel Silverstein's poem "Snowman" is a classic. It's about a snowman who wants to see July and is determined to make it happen. Find it in the collection "Where the Sidewalk Ends." I recommend the 30th anniversary edition.

Best regards.
