I was just wondering if it is common for a teacher to change grades at mid year. Has any new teacher gone through this before?

There is talk of me at my school for me to go from third grade (which is a state assessment grade) to a non-state assessment grade (Kinder, 1st, or 2nd).

All I know is that I'm going to miss my babies! As a new teacher, I've really bonded with them, but I do want them to do their best on their state assessments. There are more experienced teachers on my campus with the state assessment and it would be a switch with their classroom.

I'm not sure but possible. I switched grades after the year had begun due to budget issues. I'm enjoying the new grade and learning so much. Best wishes!

It is not common at all to change grades within a school mid year. It will take quite a while to build the classroom again with a new teacher. The only way it usually is done is when someone has been on leave and returns.

Not sure if you are still here... but your situation just happened to me. I switched from third to second and I miss my kiddies so much.

Its been so hard.... I didn't realise how common it actually is but it seems to be the case.
