Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am looking for songs/poems to assist students in writing their numbers and letters. Does anybody know of a good place to look for this or have any other their own they would like to share? Thanks for any help.

The Numbers Song

Clip to ScrapBook #2

This is sung to the tune of: Skip to my Lou

Come right down and that is all (3x)
to make the number one.

Curve around and slide to the right (3x)
and that is number two.

Curve in and around again (3x)
to make the number three.

Down, over, down some more (3x)
and that is number 4.

Down, around, and put on a hat (3x)
to make the number 5.

Curve in and around again (3x)
and that is number 6.

Slide to the right and slant it down (3x)
to make the number 7.

Make a "s" and close the gate (3x)
and that is number 8.

Circle around then come right down (3x)
to make the number 9.

Come right down and make a zero (3x)
and that is number 10.

(3x) just means sing that line 3 times...obvious, I guess, I just didn't want to confuse! I love this song!

I could see myself 30 years earlier doing this with my kindergarten.
I still do skywriting with my at risk readers. But I always loved that song and the kids got really into it

1 - one is fun, that's the way you make a 1

2 - around and back on a railroad track, that's the way you make a 2

3 - around the tree, around the tree, that's the way you make a 3

4 - down and over and down some more, that's the way you make a 4

5 - fat old five goes over, down and around, that's the way you make a 5

6 - roll a hoop and make a loop, that's the way you make a 6

7 - across the sky and down from heaven, that's the way you make a 7

8 - make an S but do not wait, go back up and close the gate, that's the way you make an 8

9 - a circle and a line, that's the way you make a 9

10 - make a 1 and zero again, that's the way you make a 10

The Handwriting Without Tears program has a whole cd of songs to help with letter and numeral formation.
