I am trying to give my 5th & 6th grade students a chance for extra credit by doing a project at home. We are studying the Revolutionary War in 5th grade and WWII in 6th grade. Some ideas I had were:
1-to draw and illustrate a timeline of major battles of the war
2- make a model or recreation of a battle scene

Does anyone have another suggestion? I want something the students can have fun with and learn.

Thanks,
Jennifer

What about writing a "newspaper"article about an event from that time period?

Also, have the kids make trivia questions about the time period. You could then have them use those questions as part of the review before you have your unit test.

Another thought, they could create their own crossword puzzle with facts from the unit of study. It could be copied and everyone could benefit from it for class review.

Making "trading cards" of famous people of the time preiod on 4by 6 cards. A picture on the front, and 3 paragraphs in the back discussing the contributions of the preson and what he/ she is best known for.
Hope it helps.
