I am looking for the poem or saying that goes along with the empty box valentine gift. Where the kids take a empty box that is wrapped and they decorate it and give it to there parents where they never open it. Does anyone have the poem that goes along with it. I think its a empty box of love poem not too sure.
"This is a very special gift
That you can never see
The reason that it's special
It's just for you from me
Whenever you are lonely
Or when you're feeling blue
You only have to hold this
gift and know I think of you
You never can unwrap it
Please leave the ribbon tied
Just hold this box close to your heart
It's filled with love inside
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
I love that poem and have been looking for it for some time. Does anybody know where I can order the mini wooden boxes with the Love in a Box poem on them? I guess I could make them myself, but I have seen them in a gift shop but can't remember where.
just cut out a piece of cardboard and wrap it in paper and ribbon then paste your poem on top. Even use old gift bags as paper. Easy as pie and cost effective for larger groups.
Thank you so so much for posting this poem on line. I have been wanting to have it for ages. I have been saving little boxes (match boxes, jewelry boxes) to wrap and attach this poem to sell as inexpensive gifts for folks to buy. I also used to give them as gifts when I really could not afford to buy gifts.
I cannot thank you enough. You're an angel!
This is a very special gift
That you can never see.
The reason it's so special is,
It's just for you from me.
Whenever you are lonely
Or even feeling blue,
You only have to hold this gift and know I think of you.
You never can unwrap it,
Please leave the ribbon tied,
Just hold this box next to your heart,
It's filled with love inside.
This is the poem I use in little heart shaped boxes that I glue shut....

You can buy the boxes at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I get mine from Firemountaingems.com, they are quite reasonable. Cute story. I gave one to my daughter one year when she was about 7 or 8. Later she came to me and asked for some glue. I gave her glue. Then I spied on her. She had broken the box open wanting to see what love looked like. When I caught her glueing it back together she apologized profusely and said, love is what you cannot see and that is what makes it so special.
I actually have one my son made for me in Cub Scouts. He turned 21 on Tuesday. I have only ever read one of the poems. The others I am going to do with my Daisy Girl Scouts. I appreciate everyones input.
I have the poem on a folding box template to print on card for the students to color and decorate. I laminate the finished pages for students to cut out, help them score along all the fold lines for sharp edges, and seal the flaps with hot glue.
I have found little paper gifts designed to go on your christmas tree at department stores at christmas time. They're very delicate because there's no actual box inside but it saves the trouble of wrapping. Oh there's a bow already done too.
