Does anyone know what's up with the (Phenix) StoryTown pcboe.net website? I LOVED all of the wonderful things they were sharing and became very dependent on their great ideas. Today, I just got messages that a log in was required (though I never saw a log-in prompt.) Did they just tire of sharing with the whole world? Did somebody tick them off? I'm SOOOOO disappointed. It was just the best site in the world (well, tied with PT.) I was grateful for each and every one of the resources I found there to help my children learn.
I just went to their site and everything is still available. At the top of the third grade page there is a notice about a password, but once I scrolled down all the materials are there.
BTW, I sent a request last year for the password for those few parts thinking that I was missing something big--not true. If you need the password, just request it. The lady was quick to respond to my request.
I just checked and it's back! Yea and AMEN!!! Thank you all. And yes, I'm going to be doing a lot of downloading and saving for the future -- just to be sure. (Kinda always meant to get things on my laptop in an organized fashion anyway.) I did send a message to their e-mail yesterday as I was so worried and today received an 'out of office' automated reply. I will send another telling them the problem was resolved and thanking them for all that they share. Sharing teachers are sooooooo awesome!!
I am new to this group and I just love it. I had the same heart attack too. I have alot backedup but there is just so much on that great site. Just want to pass on a tip that I do with great websites, if you erase the original url you will be elders main site which is also filled with wonderful resources. Again what a great group of teachers here and there.
Here's elder's url: http://www.pcboe.net/les/elderweb/
Hi everyone, I am new here and what a fantastic group of teachers. Just wanted to share a tip on the pcboe site because I had the same heart attack too. What a great group of teachers there.
Anyway here's my tip if you go to the pcboe site, delete everything up to elderweb/ and that will take you to Elder resource page. It has a ton of resources particularly for K-2nd. I tried to put the link in my reply but guess cause I am a newbie it was kicked out.
I have alot of other resources I have found to support Storytown and will post soon.
I'll keep my eyes out. StoryTown has SO MUCH to it. The experience and creativity (and generosity) of other teachers who have used it has made a big difference for my students' learning. I teach 2nd and am very grateful to pcboe and PT for helping me help my kids.
Thank you for the update! I tried several times to access it today and was worried it was gone. The other teachers in my school (grades k-1) and I absolutely love your resources! Thank you so much for all the great things you all share!
Hi! I tried today as well and cannot access
Anything anymore. All teachers grades K through 2 at my school use this. If anyone has the smart board pages saved, or the homework, can you please let me know??
Thanks SO much!!
I am so disappointed too. I use the pcboe website everyday. I've been trying to access it for two days now with no luck. Can anyone give me some insight as to what happened or how I can get it back again?
Hi, I was wondering if you know anything about not being able to access the site anymore, if it has moved or if there is another location for the absolutely wonderful resources that were on that site?? Please let me know if you know anything, Thanks!
Do you still have Storytown materials backed up off of the PCBOE website? If so, what grade do you have materials for? It appears the site has been removed by Harcourt. I am hoping to find a way to recover some of the lost materials!
It looks like the site was taken down completely. I'm wondering if it has to do with copyright laws. I'm glad that I am a hoarder and have a lot of hard copies of things. If you are a kinder teacher and are looking for hard copies, I may have them! Email me.
Hi, we have talked to someone at the pheonix school and it is down because they purchased a new reading series, I don't think they will put it back up, I also wonder if Harcourt shut it down. I wish they would have posted they were taking it down. Then we would have had a chance to download. WE ARE LOOKING for SMart Board lessons for 1st grade.
I also find it very odd they didn't at least post they were taking it down. They had to have known that everyone across the country was using their resources when their website came up before the publisher in a Google search. Not to mention they benefited from OTHER teachers material for years. Oh well, now everyone scrambles around.
I am still really sad about this. That website was so wonderful. I just can't believe they just deleted all of that information without warning. Some of it was just good work even if you weren't using the Storytown program.
So here is the question, can we work the problem? Could we load files to google docs or Skydrive then share them here? I'm talking to a friend of mine to see what she has on computer. I had only started using it this year so I have very little information
My school is losing it over not having this resource available. I have a lot of the 1st grade materials printed and in files. I do not have the Smart Board lessons, though. I could scan what I do have and share if anyone needs random first grade support. I am looking for the focus wall cards and the vocabulary sheets that have each word defined in a box with room to illustrate. Can anyone help me? Pretty please!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My whole school has been devastated by the loss of these resources. I have been kicking myself for not having saved them, but never thought they would go away. I won't be sleeping until I have it all saved to my external hard drive. Not gonna make that mistake again. Thank you soooooo much for posting this info!!!
Furious with Harcourt over them forcing pcboe to take down the resources... will do all that I can to see that we do not adopt their curriculum again. If they do this then they need to offer something comparable to help us.
lala30 I saw your post and see that you mentioned having the materials for 3rd grade! I saved a lot of the files for backup but there was so much I assumed would be there if I ever needed it! Would you be willing to email any of the resources that you saved for a fellow teacher??? Please let me know!
Could you please send me the files of what you have? I am new this year and started using this site, but didn't upload everything at once, just what I was using each week. Now I have nothing.
Thanks so much!
Would there be anyway you could email the second grade resources from PBOE. I loved using those and am really missing them now. I may be able to get some of the kindergarten for you if you still need them.
I was wondering if you could email me the 2nd grade focus walls for lessons 22-30. I copied all the other previous lessons this summer. I love these and I was so sad to see them taken down I will ask the kindergarten teachers at my school if the saved anything!
I used to use this website when I was teaching first grade, and was able to print lots of useful materials. Next year I will be teaching Kindergarten and was wondering if you would be able to send me some of your hard copies?
The new reading currciulum for Phenix City, Alabama is Wonders, so if it is gone, that is why. Wonders was chosen to align better with Common Core. The Storytown resources were great! I completed my student teaching and substitute teaching in this area and my own kids attend Phenix City schools.
