Pep Rally ideas

Our school had a motivational speaker, focused around the "I Can!" mentality. It was really neat. We also had our student council members use the song to "I Gotta Feelin" by the Black Eyed Peas and re-write the lyrics to "I Gotta Feeling... that today's gonna be a good test..." and it went on & on with replacement lyrics focused on "the test". It was so cool and got all the 3rd & 4th graders fired up for testing. They created a powerpoint with the new lyrics and on each slide was a different part of the song. Everyone was singing and following along! Just an idea. Good luck with testing!

Game Show

We had a big game show with some "Price Is Right" types games and some challenges by way of "Minute to Win IT." The students were called down to the front of the auditorium to answer multiple choice questions like the ones found on our state test. If they answered correctly, they were advanced to the stage for a game or challenge. Consolation prizes were Number 2 pencils. We also had the kids earn tickets in the weeks prior to the show for using good test taking strategies, making posters, participating in PSSA Spirit Days, etc. Those tickets were drawn during the game show for prizes. The kids had a great time and it really set the stage.

From Sound of Music. Idea came from other great songs by people on PT

Do, Re, Me…

Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start

Dough, A dollar for passing the test
Ray, a drop of smiling sun shine
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long OAA
So, I’m going to pass the test
La, a note for job well done
Te-Ball, a game for break time
And that will bring us back to dough…

Repeat…

Mishell1284... Will you please share the lyrics for "I gotta feeling..." with your teacher friends. We have a test assembly Friday and are looking for some ideas to pep up our students.

Is there any way that you can post the lyrics to the song that you rewrote. I have found some that are very elementary, but I want to find something that is upbeat. Our pep rally is on April 12th.

Wow! this sounds awesome. I teach in a 3-5 school and could really use "I Gotta Feeling.... to motivate students.

Thanks!

Here are the lyrics to "Gotta Keep Reading." (Based on "I Gotta Feelin' " by The Black-Eyed Peas)

Here's the YouTube video of the same song.

Songs for Testing Pep Rally
Old 05-02-2014, 12:34 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #15

I'm a fourth grade teacher in Virginia. We have done a pep rally for several years and we have the fourth graders preform a song each time. If you go in YouTube you can search 'testing parody songs' and you will find a lot of them. One I used was to the tune of Tao Cruz's "Dynamite". It was called Rock this Test. There are some to the song "Call me Maybe" (called Test me Maybe), and there is even one to the tune of the new hit Disney song from Frozen "Let it Go". There is a great one called "Teach Me How to Study" (to the tune of "Teach me How to Duggie") but you can find an elementary version on Schooltube.com. I hope this helps. Happy Testing!
