Hello Teachers!
We would like to hold a school-wide a pep rally to get our students excited and energized for the state tests. Any suggestions on what to do at the pep rally? Skits? Chants? Games? Any and All advice is welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Our school held a pep rally last year.
We sat outside on the blacktop in a U-shape.
Each grade level preformed a short chant
or song that realated to doing your best on the test.
PTA threw out pom poms and necklaces just like they do at basketball games!
The kids loved it and they really got excited!

We had our high school cheerleaders come to school for a pep assembly. They performed cheers, stunts, and even threw out candy. They had our different grade levels compete against each other with cheers. The kids loved it!

We have never done this but I like the idea. I think having the cheerleaders come is an excellent idea. I would probably include some type of competition or games between classes as well.

One year we did a game show like Deal or No Deal. We had teachers holding binders for cases that opened and showed an amount and a test taking strategy. One of the teachers was a host, we had a banker that offered deals, students were contestants, etc. The whole school watched and really enjoyed it.

Our teachers and a few support staff danced to a song that was written for ITBS/ITEDs. The tune was "Don't Stop Believin'". You can check it out here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de-H-RPipqY.

We had a ventroliquist come in and perform for us. He interacted with the kids and performed with his "sidekick." But the whole performance was teaching the kids test taking strategies: eating a good breakfast, getting a good night sleep, don't interrupt the teacher during the test and to do your best. The kids loved it!
