Reading passage website

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I want to try to find good reading passage and questions and don't know where to begin. Do any of you have good websites that you use? Or should I buy a book to copy passages and questions? Do you have a "worksheet" book that you like better than others?

What I'm looking for are more practice passages with recipes and flyers with questions that the students need to use to answer.

It seems that some teachers have great books they make copies from but whenever I go to the teacher store I can't decided which series is really the best. I have a few of Scholastic Non-fiction reading passage books but wonder about some other good ones. Thank you.

I have Evan Moor's Daily Reading book, and I like it a lot. It has a reading to do each day with 4 questions. I bought the enhanced ebook. The kids do it first thing in the morning, and we check it together on the SMARTboard.

I am not exactly sure what your purpose is for the reading passages. This site has at least two passages at each Guided Reading Level. The Running Record really has a lot more than just a running record. There are comprehension questions as well. It also has assessments for writing which I really like. Hope this helps

There are past Ontario Grade 3 Spring Tests on there. Lots of good reading passages and questions.

Real World Comprehension-not sure who it's by, but it has lots of good comprehension activities. It has recipes, movie ads, newspaper ads, flyers, etc. and the kids love it. Google real world comprehension books I think it's the one by Mailbox.

I also use superteacher.com. It has a lot of great stuff including comp. worksheets. The best part is that it is FREE! You can differentiate your selections by grade levels. There is also math, spelling, writing, handwriting, etc. I have used the reading comp. passages for homework a lot this year.
