Lead 21 Reading Series

Clip to ScrapBook #1

This was my first year using Lead 21 and I don't particularly care for it. I do like the assessment component, but that's about it. It's new from Wright Group, so new in fact, they were still rolling the materials off of the priniting press at the beginning of last year and some of the classes didn't have all of their materials. This summer I want to plan for next year and start off on the right foot. So is anyone else using Lead 21? What do you think of it? I teach second. I want to use Daily 5 and Cafe with it next year, but I don't know where to start with it.

I am looking forward to hearing about your Lead 21 experiences.
TIA

I have never heard of it. Is it a basal type series, or a collection of mini lessons, or what? Can you tell us more?

2nd year with LEAD 21

I will be starting my second year with LEAD 21. I teach 4th grade and my 4th grade colleagues and I spent a lot of time this summer organizing and planning for this reading series.

Last year, we received the materials in October so it was very difficult to implement and understand the manuals at the same time.

It is a very meaty program and certainly "raises the bar" of what is considered "at grade level."

I hope all of the time spent this summer will help in the implementation this year!

Do you know if there are any Powerpoints or other electronic files made up for any of the units? My team and I began creating some but would love to see what other people have created.
