Using sneakers/shoes for theme
Old 06-20-2011, 05:37 AM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Our school has a new theme every year. This year the theme is sports. I would like to find my twist on this by incorporating one of my favorite things--shoes. ha!

I was thinking "Sneaking into 4th grade" or "Stepping into____" or "Starting off on the right foot."

I need ideas for decorating. I am trying to draw/create as much as I can, first, because I have searched this morning and found absolutely nothing in this category. Second, because these theme changes are expensive.

Any help is appreciated!

They also have some (had some, at least) cute sneaker border and other stuff at Dollar Tree.

These ideas are amazing! I searched Dollar Tree for any sneakers/shoes cutouts, with no luck. I think I'll be drawing these myself!
I teach writing/ELA/Social Studies, so you covered all the bases.

If you think of more, keep them coming! Love them!

So loved the link to JoAnne's. Wish I'd seen this before creating my theme.

Rubric

Years ago we made a rubric for what would make the best tennis shoe.
What would it look like? So if it didn't have laces would it be a good tennis shoe? On and on and the kids come up with what the best tennis shoe would be like. This could be an example to show students how you develop a rubric for their assignments. We would go back to the tennis shoe rubric and then decide what you would need for the best paragraph etc. The kids really get into it
