I was shopping online today and saw the shoe bins I have been using for years from Walmart. They have been excellent--really durable. I love that they're clear because you can change the labels if you switch themes/color scheme. Anyhow, you can get 36 of them for $34 right now and have them shipped to the store for pickup for free. I wanted to share in case anyone is looking for bins for their classroom library. I attached a pic of mine with some different labels over the years. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the online tip. I have been looking for a good deal on tubs. Thanks again for posting this information. I am going to order mine tonight.
Thanks for this tip!! I LOVE these bins! Normally they're pretty cheap at walmart, but I'll take any deal. Not to mention I found a zebra print rolling chair on sale that I added to my checkout as well
Are these good for chapter books as well? I'm currently searching for book baskets for my classroom library for second grade. I'll have a good mix of chapter books as well as picture books. Thanks! Oh, and do they come with lids?
I use these in my class. They hold Chapter books pretty well lined up front to back. I have several bins with chapter books the size of Junie B Jones/Magic Tree house type paperbacks. Almost like they were made for it.
oh for crying out loud, don't ask me how I forgot the link--I think I am vacationed out!! Here it is: Sterilite Shoe Box (they do come with lids).
moms2boys...they do work well for chapter books too. You can face them in the other direction (like all facing front in a long line down the box, if that makes sense!).
Thank you!! I have been looking all week for new bins and was about to order from Really Good Stuff (love that place ). I am going to order these now!
ladybug12, if you don't mind me asking, how do you organize your library? I'm moving from 4th to 2nd and thought this would be the year I organize my library a bit. Thanks!
not at all! It's still a work in progress, but I have two sections. I just started a level one this year because our school received a bunch of fantastic leveled books (guided reading levels). I also have a genre/topic section that I'm still working on. It's organized by topics, favorite authors, and series books. I'll share more about that part on here as I work on it this summer.
Ok, thanks! I've been debating between leveling and just organizing by genre/author. This is the first time I've been in second grade, not to mention my first year back after 2 years at home with my boys. While I would really like to level my library, I think for this upcoming year I'm leaning towards organizing by genre/author. I'll be on the lookout for your posts Thank you again
edistonian - They do normally just cost a dollar, but buying this is like getting 2 free 2 dollars for most of us is 2 dollars worth saving! If you couldn't do free site to store free shipping it wouldn't be worth it, but I'll take it.
edistonian, same as what FishyH said--it's nice 'cause it's a little break in price! I think it comes out to like 94 cents each and I love anything under a dollar!!
TravelingGal, I will make a post with them tomorrow morning!
