Brownie Mix Expiration

Can't believe a brownie mix would go bad in my house, but it has a date of June 2011. Do you think it's still OK to use?

I would use it. A month isn't bad for brownie mix.

I heard on the radio the other day that the only food the FDA requires to have an expiration date in baby formula.

Sure! The only time I throw away expired pantry items if it is over a year old, unless it was chips or something. It usually only has expiration date because it can alter the taste if it old. Brownie mix, I am sure takes more than a month to start tasting off.

Use it.
"Best Before" doesn't always mean "Bad Afterward."
It really depends on the product.

If you're worried about it, just make them and send them in a package to me!

I'll take some too!

My brother works at a grocery store and often companies tell the store that if the food is expired to just throw it out and they'll get a credit for it or something like that. Anyways- he brings us things like cereal ALL the time. Usually those dates are actually "sell by" dates and that you have quite awhile to use it. Milk is the same thing- even if the date is old, it's fine as long as it tastes/smells good.

would be willing to be the taste-tester! Too late...they are gone. Made them and dinner for my dad's neighbors.
