to paint swatches!!!! I went to get my paint swatches to make the word family game I previously posted about and now I am hooked! I was standing there looking at all the pretty colors and racking my brain to think of something to do with all of them. I grabbed as many as I could without getting yelled at and dashed out the door Now I have made my word family game and have all of these beautiful paint swatches sitting on my dining room table. Anyone have ideas? I got all kinds: large squares, ones with squares already cut out, long ones with 6 colors. The possibilities are endless. Help me think of some cool ideas to use with these, I can't wait to see what you all come up with

As I've browsed through Pinterest, I've seen many pins involving paint swatches. I just did a search and found a TON of different ideas. See if this gets the creative juices flowing!

paint synonyms

I have taken the multi colored ones that start will the lightest color and go to the darkest color and listed synonyms. I put all the blank swatches in a center and placed cards with groups of synonyms. The cards had the individual word on different cards. The students sorted the synonyms and wrote them on the swatch with a Sharpie. Example - big (on top lightest color), large, huge, enormous, gigantic, mammoth (on the last color). Not sure of the age, but my 3rd graders enjoyed it.

Synonyms

I took a graduate course this summer and one idea that was shared was to use paint switches to list synonyms. So--on one paint swatch, students would create a list of synonyms for the word "happy"--write a different synonym for "happy" in each color box.
