I'm considering subscribing to Brain Pop for my 3rd grade classroom.....haven't looked through the site much.....

wondering...is it worth the $135 for a year subscription???

Also...should I do decide to get it....Brain Pop Jr.? or just Brain Pop?

I taught 6th grade last year and our school had brain pop. My kids loved it and we used it every day. I am teaching 3rd this year and have found that brainpop is too high for my third graders. We do not have brain pop jr. at my school but i've looked at the site and it seems more appropriate for 3rd.

I LOVE BRAINPOP!

We get the $275 classroom version (of BrainPop and BrainPopJr.) and the other science teacher and I share it. I use it almost every day. The kids love it.

I use BrainPop with my 3rd graders. The topics there fit better with that age group. BrainPopJr may end up being too young for them.

I hadn't heard of this 'subscription' and was honestly picturing some beverage that ya gave the kids to drink!!!!! !!!!! (I'm from Michigan where 'pop' is the term for soda.) I was wondering if there was a sorta 'healthy' energy drink on the market. Wait, maybe I should market such a thing. I'd make a lot more money than I do as a teacher. "Just start each school day out with 8 oz. of brain pop" Obviously I'd hafta call it something else because apparently that name is already taken.

Now I have to learn about the REAL brain pop. Is it on-line or in paper form? Can someone describe it in a little detail. I'll google it, of course, too, but I'd love some teacher input.

GdHrtdTchr - I'm from Ohio originally and thought the same thing the first time. Go to BrainPop.com and watch some of the free movies.

It's a fantastic resource!

I use it all the time. Our school provides it for our whole school, K-12. I know it is use by everyone in the elementary. I did buy it one year for my class but it wasn't that expensive. They do have a sale every now and then. If you have the money I would do it. Is there any way you can ask for donations from your parents. We did that for spelling city and we were able to pay for it after our parent night. I had put a wish list on my board before my parents arrived and by the end og the evening it was paid for. Good Luck.

I love what I've seen so far. I'm going to watch out for the 'specials/sales' you mentioned. We are title 1 and our families are 98% high-poverty so I would not ask parents, but I might mention it next time folks at my church ask 'what I need.' Thanks for sharing!

I don't use it nearly as much as I should. I found Brain Pop Jr. to be better for my kids when I did resource last year. They have some free movies, I would check them out to get a better idea.

My school has a lab subscription for BrainPop and BrainPop--all the teachers love it! For 3rd grade--you might want both subscriptions depending on the topics you teach. How do you plan to use it?
