[Munchkins]

I have been using UOS and the TC calendars for a few years, but I find my kids are lacking conventions and grammar since those aren't taught explicitly. I'm thinking of doing one grammar and one convention mini-lesson a week, and the rest UOS/TC mini lessons that support our unit. Has anyone else done this, and how did it work? TIA!

I am using the end of my week for a grammar/revision strategy minilesson. I just purchased mechanically Inclined and will start to use that. I also use georgia Heard's Toolbox for revision. So far so good and I feel like I have a better handle on covering the skills needed.

If I had to choose, what would you recommend I purchase? I teach first and second grade. Thanks for your help!

When i taught first grade I just stuck to the basics. Besides punctuation, we put TIRED words to bed, learned how to use quotations but not everyone was successful. Each day before our share I had the kids edit their writing as a class. I would say read for uppercase, periods. I tell them I am looking for the magic of three did you correct three errors in your writing. (I still do that with my fifth graders.)

I did use the Revision Toolbox with first but I had to pick and choose.
