I am looking for ideas for a testing pep rally. Our school used to have a kit called "Test Busters" however it has disappeared. We are in desperate need of testing skits, cheers, raps, etc. for our pep rally in May. Can anyone help????
We just had one not too long ago...Our reading coach had the band and cheerleaders from the high school come and "perform." Each class made up their own cheer and did it in front of the pep rally - we didn't really have any pre-made ones.
Our district requires us to "make a big deal about tests." If it were entirely up to me, then I wouldn't. However, I lost control of all the decision making regarding my classroom when accountability became such a hot topic. I'm just trying to find ideas to help my kids get over their fears regarding testing and pump them up to let them know they can do well. So if you have any ideas for chants, raps, etc I would love them.
I like the Survivor day idea. What all do you do for it? I like the idea of having everyone dress in camo. Do you give them the bandanas or have them in tribes? What else do you do? This has my creative juices flowing......
This year we had a football player from our local univeristy come and talk to the kids about grades, etc. It helped that he sat out a bowl game in Hawaii because of his grades.
Last year the teachers were the cheerleaders, and we just changed the yells the students already knew to go with testing. We had a dance contest between a few of the teachers (the kids really love to laugh at us!). Last year of test scores improved so much that we got money from the federal government.
Our school used to have that too! I l oved it! It provided some great activities and skits that the teachers did at a test pep rally for the students. Have you been able to locate a test busters kit or materials. We lost all of ours in Katrina along with all the handouts and materials that went with it.
