powerpoint project suggestions

We take our state tests next week. The rest of the school year I will be teaching health. My students have burn out from reviewing so hard and they have been great. I have signed up for the computer lab and I want to let them do sometype of fun project. I thought of something health related and have them create a powerpoint presentation. I thought about drugs, alcohol, diseases, etc. Any ideas about what I need to require them to put in the presenations? My mind is stressed too and I hope that is the reason my mind is blank right now. Thanks!

Have you considered a Jeopardy Power Point?

My 5th graders are doing this now with the space unit we just finished. It is an awesome assesment tool and the kids are having a great time with it. I just googled "Jeopardy templates" and then picked the one that I thought would be most appropriate for my kids. Last year my kids also used the "Who wants to be a milionaire?" and the "Hollywood Squares" templates too.

what would you want to test them on? Side effects from drugs and alcohol, types of diseases??? Create a rubric http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php and let them do online research, teach them how to cite http://citationmachine.net/?g=4

What about focusing on an eating/exercise project? Students could research fast food restaurants (calories, fat, etc.), the food guide pyramid, and/or their favorite foods, as well as journal and then chart their exercise/activity minutes per day.

Students could create a graph to include in their powerpoint showing how much exercise they did over a two week (longer/shorter) time span.

They could survey their peers, family, friends, etc. about their favorite fast foods, and then research the calories and fat in those popular foods.

Students could then put all of their research, data, and charts/graphs into a powerpoint about living a more healthy lifestyle. You could also include the drug/alcohol component.

I would think of different health topics, and allow each group to research and present on a different topic. This way the kids will become an expert in one area, but through the presentations will learn about other areas. Also, you won't be bored watching and grading a whole bunch of identical projects.

Have fun--my kids LOVE ppt, and have even figured out how to do things I didn't know how to do.

My favorite ppt story was when a parent in my class emailed me to tell me that she couldn't believe that her son had learned how to do ppt at school--they were quite surprised and impressed when he used his ppt skills on the family computer to create a presentation about why his parents should buy him more legos!! I said it was a sales pitch, and maybe he'd be a successful businessman one day! His parents and I had a good laugh over that one!
