Friend of the family found murdered

Please pray for a family I've known since I was a kid. I just learned that the wife (56) was found murdered in the back of her car. They went to the church I grew up in and were parents at the suburban school I taught at when I was a new teacher. Very kind and generous people and always supportive of teachers.

All I know is that she apparently went home after work, but was no longer there when her husband came home around 8. She was reported missing last night and her body was found in the back seat of her car in the city this morning. This is so sad and shocking. The kids are probably in their twenties now.

Please pray for them during this shocking time of grief.

That is so horrible. It is especially scary when it hits close to home like that. My prayers will include the family.

B-
I saw this story on the news today at 6. They said she had a meeting near downtown and that her body was found in the back of her car on the east side. How very, very sad and tragic. Sometimes, I feel like I take things for granted....we go to work and come home safe and sound.
I will keep her family in thought and prayer...you, too!

Have the police determined that it was a murder?

I lost my sister to murder when she was 56. Way too young.

I will keep the family in my thoughts.

Thank you for your prayers and support. There was a vigil at the high school last night and her cousin (my childhood church-mate) expressed the family's appreciation for everyone's prayers. This most certainly was a murder. The investigation is pending, of course, but it appears she suffered trauma and was strangled. Our local police are notorious for their diligence, but the actual murder very likely took place in the city. I believe everyone will work very hard to catch this killer and bring justice, but that won't bring her back.

Her father-in-law was a highly regarded judge and leader at our church. His 2002 obituary began:

"Peacemaker...this one word, more than any other, describes Judge...Bashara..."

Other excerpts:
"Noted throughout the state and the country as a superb mediator and arbitrator, Judge Bashara spent his entire life bringing people together, as well as helping them to bring out the best in themselves.

He refused to suffer quarrels and unreasoned disagreement, instead using all of his skills to concentrate combatants on compromise and win-win situations. In every area of his life and his work, he extended a supreme effort to heal, to make things work and to make things better.

A gentle man who shared his strength and convictions with any who cared to partake of them, George Bashara also was a man of faith, patience, humor and warmth. His ability to bring order out of chaos was accomplished with grace and wit.

...When he sat on the probate bench, Judge Bashara originated a program wherein middle school students attended his courtroom on "Drug Day," to observe the terrible tragedies of narcotics involvement. The youngsters also visited the Wayne County jail. He then traveled to schools with recovering abusers to meet with students who had attended a Drug Day program and conduct a discussion on what had transpired."

It's just so sad that a family that was all about support and connecting people peacefully would face such a brutal tragedy. It's a blessing that they have so many loving folks and a merciful Lord to help them through this difficult time.

Thank you again for your continued prayers.
