We are very excited and happy that our DD will be getting married next year. She wants a traditional wedding. All of us want a nice wedding but are becoming overwhelmed with the potential costs. We have no idea of the normal costs and are wondering what others have done to make their day special without going overboard. She is helping with expenses too.

Congratulations to your daughter and future SIL. I don't have any advice about costs since it's been awhile since I got married. Wishing you and DD the best with wedding planning!

Congratulations!!

Focusing on what is most important to them rather than comparing their wedding to magazines and pinterest helps keep down costs. OTOH, pinterest has a wealth of diy and cost-saving tips!

I was very lucky to have a lot of family and friends help out donating time/resources - offered their property as the location, made centerpieces, acted as wedding coordinator, did hair and makeup, etc. I think that sort of thing makes the day special; each piece has a person special to you connected to it.
