Unique way to ask girl to prom?

My son mentioned that he needed a unique way to ask a girl to prom. I thought I was being super original when I suggested sticking post it notes all over her car and using different colored ones to spell Prom? He gave me a withering look and said that people do that one all the time. Any ideas?

One of DS's friends just posted a photo of a car in the HS parking lot with post it notes all over it. I wonder if that's what that was!

DS's good friend, a cute and popular guy (I refer to him as Ferris Bueller) asked the "hottest girl in our class" to the prom last week. According to DS, during class, he took her hands, and wrote, "P-r-o-m-d-a-t-e-?" in pen across her knuckles. She responded by writing on his knuckles "No thanks, j/k!" So they are going together. I thought that was cute but risky for anyone who is not Ferris Bueller!

I'm bored this evening, too tired to do anything else. I just googled your question. This was my favourite answer:

make a cake for her and put a hamster inside of it. shave the hamsters fur to make it say "You and me. prom?"

Most of the other answers had to do with balloons, flowers, corsage, candy spelling out prom on a poster. I'm not sure how common all of these are. Sorry I'm no help!

Buy a box of candy and tape something inside the lid.

Make a short video of him holding cue cards, one word at a time..." Will... you... go... to... prom... with....me?"- Send it to her phone.

If DS and girl have a favorite teacher, see if he/she would let him slip it into her homework handout or something. 10 math problems, the last one being" Bob + you= a) class of '12 b) math superstars! c) Prom dates

all this is done now? I guess you'd have to be pretty sure the girl would say yes or look like a fool. I cannot even imagine my son doing any of these things and we live in the country and he's older now but was always popular in h.s. I would think most guys would feel dorky doing any of them as I've worked in both middlle and high schools in the inner city. I thought all these creative ideas were saved for asking someone to marry you, hey, what do I know?

One of my friends was proposed to by her boyfriend filling a room with balloons in her favorite colors. He told her to start popping balloons to find a surprise. Inside one strategically placed balloon (last one she got to, not sure how he made sure of that) was a slip of paper saying will you marry me. Your DS could do the same except of course the paper would ask her to prom rather than to get married!

One of my children did the car with the post its. It was a great success. My other child did this thing, where they gave to their friend a tub of soft butter...I think a note was on the bottom. "I wanted to butter you up"....and later in the day, gave them popcorn with a "I buttered you up to ask you to the prom". It was about 6 years ago...Have fun!

I think he should take her out to a casual chinese restaurant and arrange ahead of time a slip of paper for her fortune cookie that says, "Will you go to prom with me?", OR "You will have a great time if you go to the prom with _____." OR, he could take her for pizza and have them arrange the pepperonis to say "You + me....PROM?"

I taught a group of kids in Sunday school for several years. They are now SR.'s in high school and I am "Friends" (on FB only) with several. Two posted their prom thing. I will post both pics. The first one was done at a Jewish youth weekend. Since they are on FB, I feel it is safe to post them here.

Here is the second one. This is the caption that went with it:

"Joe gave me this piņata cupcake for our one year, which i carried around the whole day. When we got back to the house, this was what was inside "

Until I saw these, I had no idea asking someone to prom was this big.

I saw this type of thing in a movie about a prom that was out last spring. Everyone wrote PROM? on something different from holding up signs, putting it on a cake, and on a banner above the highway.

The movie had something to do with a guy who was a big troublemaker being forced to helped the prom committee chairman plan the event. They were complete opposites but throughout his time helping, he changed and the two fell for each other ad decided to go together until something happened to tear them apart and get back together at the end. There were side story lines involving other students as well. I am going to look this up.

ETA: The movie is simply called prom and came out in the theater last year.

Put a note saying "prom?" on her doorstep with two rocks...write yes on one rock and no on the other! Tell her to bring the correct answer rock to you. Make the no rock super heavy! It should be a super heavy boulder. That way she has to pick yes

I copied this but this is what my DS said to do.

Prom invites are very big where my nieces live. One year a boy decorated my nieces bedroom with balloons and streamers. He hung a sign asking her to go to the prom.

Another year the guy cut out PROM from cardboard. He wrapped each letter with Christmas lights, hung them from a tree and plugged them in for her. All done after dark of course.

Using the same idea you can attach the letters wrapped with lights to tomato stakes and put them in the ground. If she is at home the letters can face her front door, he plugs them in and rings the bell. The word is lit up behind him. He just has to know where the outside outlet is ahead of time.

My other niece had a booklet sent to her. On each page was an ink illustration with pics of the different dates they had been on. The last page was an illustration of him asking her to the prom. This can work with stick figures if your son isn't an artist.

Crazy, isn't it?

What about the poor schmuck that had enough of a hard time working up the nerve just to ask? Does he stand a chance? Is the girl going to be disappointed because she was "just asked?"

Of all of the ideas here, I like the fortune cookie idea. Very creative!!

Last year, while we were all at the beach for his Spring Break, my nephew wrote in the sand in huge letters, took a photo and texted it back to the girl. It was so cute! We were all there cheering him on!

The Wolves are pushing their teammate to go...bets, cash, etc!! See if you son can make a 2-5 min. video. Let us know what he does!!

Prom

Love these creative and cute ideas!

Does the prom have a theme? Can he maybe think of something to go along with the prom theme?

When DD was asked to homecoming one year their theme was "Once Upon a Time".

One day she kept finding things taped to her locker, on her desk, etc. (sparkly shoes, a pretend tiara, etc.)

After school she found "___________, will you be my princess at homecoming?" written on her truck with a fairy wand taped to the antennae.

Using a ring?

How about putting a key ring (just the metal circle) or a cheapo quarter machine ring into a ring box and him getting down on one knee and asking her to prom?

Thank you for all the suggestions. I am going to slyly drop them into conversation (he would die if he knew I posted about him)! He is going to think I am a genius. Oh, I forgot he is a teenager. Pigs will fly first. Thanks, again.
