Help me brainstorm a bookclub name?

Hea all!
I'm starting a book club for my exiting 4th graders and a few upcoming 3rd graders (children of teachers at my school) for the summer. We've chosen 4 books of various genres and plan to meet 1-2 times per book at our public library over the summer. We'll continue using RW strategies, sticky notes, and will integrate lit circle aspects here and there. I'm looking for a book club name. Any ideas would be helpful!

THat's funny... last year around this time (or maybe it was the beginning of the year??) I asked the exact same question. I ended up calling the club... get ready for this: The 3rd and 4th Grade Book Club. So pathetic, but I wanted a really cool name and since nothing lived up to it, I gave up. I love the name, Flashlight Readers, but I got that idea from Scholastic, so I'm sure it's copyrighted. I wanted something like that-- that would show how much the kids loved to read. Maybe try opening it up to them?

PS: I've found with my group, that we usually are "talked out" about a book in one session and I think my attendance would drop if I did two meetings. *Unless the book was not read the entire way yet-- we've never had that circumstance.

Wow.........thanks for letting me know that 1 session on each book would be sufficient. It'll help me structure things for this summer.

It IS all about loving reading. I wonder if you wouldn't mind me naming it in your honor? The "Bookmunchers"........so aptly named after the person who guided me through Mosaic and provides tons of insight for so many of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Of, course I'll understand if it seems a bit corny and all.) Maybe I could tell them it's named after one of my mentors (you being one and gitt the other).

Let me know. (?)

Mrs. _____ First Annual Radical Readers Book Club
Mrs. _____ First Annual Night Light Book Club
Mrs. _____ First Annual Remarkable Reading Camp

Literature Lounge Lizards
Summer Splash
Thinking Cap Society
Book Busters

We had a book club that had themed snacks that related to the book.

You're certainly welcome to use the name bookmuncher, although I like some of these other suggestions!! Maybe I will be able to change the name of ours for next year.

PS: Another thing I did this year was gave a story treasure for each book. Everything was a dollar store find and it usually came in packs so it was cheap each time. It would kind of become a short wrap up activity b/c the kids would discuss what the object symbolized.

Thanks! I am intrigued by the story treasure idea. You simply purchased one object that held a special meaning as related to the piece of literature? One object per novel, not one object for each child right?

Snacks relating to the story? Cute! I don't think the public library will allow us to bring in snacks, however, if we had a picnic, that would be possible.

I think I want to keep it as simple as possible this first go-round and build from there.

Name still undecided. So many original ideas were posted! I am still favoring bookmunchers because the goal is the really "chew" on the novel together!
