Hi! I just finished lesson 1 Read half of Basket Moon. Does anyone know why the lesson does not allow students to pair/share their questions until the end of the reading?

Our school just adopted Making Meaning and we will complete our first lesson next week. How do you assess you students?

our Reading committee wrote common core assessments for most of the lessons. Most of them follow the W.B. that goes along with the units.

I was lucky enough to help pilot the Making Meaning program 5 years ago. Are you being required to follow the teacher's manual as a script or are you using it as a guide?

Both... I use it as a guide more or less! I just was wondering what the methodology was behind waiting until the end of the lesson to allow for sharing. This lesson was the last in the unit... maybe it is expected? that the children have a good understanding of questioning??? What is your thinking about having the students write down a question, but waiting until the end of the lesson for discussion?
