Someone posted a few days about Bee Bucks, and this was enough motivation to get me working...I've used banana bucks (http://www.teachnet.com/graphics/how...age/banana.pdf) in the past, but my theme is bees. A student suggested "honey money" this past year, but I liked Bee Bucks, so I thought I'd share.
Don't know why this popped into my head, but maybe someday I'll do a cow theme. The "money" can be called "moo-la" and we can have "moo-valous math", "udderly awesome students"... Everything can have a black and white spotted background.
I haven't done a theme yet. Is it a pain/expensive? It really sounds cute. Also do you get tired of it after a while? Bees sound really cute, maybe frogs.
Thanks for any advice.
Let me know if you'd like to do things with Frogs. I have a bunch of frog stuff already put together. Frogs (fully responsible, organized, and growing students) binder cover, Frogs binder labels, Frogs binder rules, Pond bucks. Someone else on here did a newsletter called News from the Pond. If you want any of these templates, let me know and I can attach them for you.
If you have a different them and want me to edit my money to fit your theme, I'd be glad to. Just let me know what the theme is and what you want the money called.
I was going to call mine Star Bucks also, since I have a star theme. Trianaoo, I couldn't open your Bee Bucks since they were in Publisher. Is there any chance you could make a Star Bucks one in Word?
Thanks for all the frog stuff! It is so cute. One of the things I have done in the past is to give each student a frog with their name on it. Then I have #'s to represent the multiplication facts on the cupboards. The kids hop to each # as they pass each of the multiples. When they pass through 12's we have a celebration. Of course I teach 4th and hopefully 5th graders know their facts.
Any ideas on what I could call my money for my classroom economy? I'm doing a 50's theme with a diner, drive-in movies, record store, kind of like an old town.
I am confused about what theme I could use this year. It will be my first time using a theme and I was considering doing a star theme. On my front door I was going to place each child's name on a star and write "Galaxy of Shining Stars". It's an idea I saw in the Reallygoodstuff catalog. I was wondering if cinaminsweet or anyone else could you share some ideas or thoughts on what I could do for a star theme.
TrianaOO you are a genius! Even though this post was not mine, I hope you don't mind if I print the bucks. I have a star theme this year ( as well as being a Starbucks fanatic!) So these are perfect for me. How do you make these? You are very creative! Thank you for posting them.
Since my last name is "Buck"....I have "Buck's Bucks" each year. I photocopy a dollar bill (either real or play-money) and put the kids' digital picture in the center....
I just made them freehand in Publisher. I know some people don't have Publisher so then I copied them into Word.
morah--Do you like the star bucks with all the different designs or would you prefer them to all be the same? If you want them the same, just let me know and I can easily change it!
triana00, thanks so much! You are a genius! I really like them all, but I do like the third one (the one with the smiley face star) the best. Excellent job!
I don't do a whole lot with my star theme. When I taught second grade, my welcome back bulletin board said "Second Grade Super Stars!" and I had all the children's names written on star cut outs. Since I will have a good majority of those same kids this year in fourth grade, I don't want to do the same thing. I might use your title "Galaxy of Shining Stars."
I call my behavior plan "Super Star Students." When students are misbehaving and I have them go to time out, they fill out a STAR report. STAR stands for Stop, Think, Act Responsibly. (I got that name from someone on the Discipline without Rewards Yahoo group.) If you want to see it, give me your email and I'll send it to you.
The kids' take home folders are called their STAR (Students Taking Academic Responsibility) folders. It's just a purple plastic folder with a star nametag on the front.
For my word wall, I wrote the letters of the alphabet on star cutouts.
My student work board is called "Super Star Work." Most of the bulletin boards in my room have borders with stars on them. I like stars, so whenever I'm in the teacher's store, I always look for those kind of borders. That's the extent of my theme. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Thank you for the suggestions. They give me an idea on where I could begin. I don't to want to go over board with the stars. However listening to everyone talk about classroom themes I thougt I would give it a try. I will take it slowly this year and maybe become more advanced like some of the other PT teachers. I think I'll use the STAR ("Student's That Are Responsible") on the student's take home folders. It's an idea that I found on a website suggested by another PT member.
I almost forgot to thank you for post your message that included the "star bucks". They are great! I hope you don't mind I would like to use them in my class this year.
Triana - You are the best! I like them all!! The second column didn't completely print. It is like it ran out of room! Do you know what I can do to fix that? I only have Publisher at school and don't really know how to use it! If you could make me a whole sheet of the bucks that use "you are a star" I would really appreciate it! Thank you so very much!
Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a cloud theme? I was thinking of hanging paper clouds from the ceiling with different key behavior words such as "Respect" Responsibility" etc. I was also thinking of using
"Soaring to new heights with a Good Book" (Reading Corner)
"We are on Cloud Nine in Fifth Grade!"
I need some more catchy titles that I could use, especially for a math wall, etc. Please let me know your ideas! Thanks! Leslie
I love the idea. I'm doing a STARS theme in my classroom (5th grade) this year............. Successful Talented And Responsible Students.
I've been wrecking my brain for sum type of reward system and the bee bucks (star bucks) are great idea.
Who ever had the idea about the STAR behavior folder, can I have a little more information about that?
Hi, I was wondering if by chance you have the FROGS binder rules on a word document file. I'm interested in using the binder next school year for my class. Thanks.
I have to do a BB on super stars and would like an idea on how to decorate it? I was thinking of putting star cutouts with kids names and display their work by their star. However, I don't have any ideas on how to decorate it relating to super stars.
Also, can I get a copy of the STAR report? I really like the idea.
Thanks
