If not how about making a bulletin board with soccer net on it and write Our Goals and have each kid fill out a soccer ball with their goals on it.

Hi! I have brightly colored race cars on a road with a big checkered flag in the middle of my welcome board. Each car has a student's name on it, and the headline says, "On the road to a winning year!".

I have a monkey theme in my room, but you can put it with any theme.
My board says "We're Bananas About Books."
I have banana cut outs and I started with one or two of my favorite books. I write the Title, Author and my name on the Banana and staple it to the board. When the kids come in, I tell them that on their own time, they may go to the BB one at a time to fill out a banana. Last year, my board was full. They loved it,and it never cause any problems with traffic or behavior.

I have a clothes line hanging outside my door. It has little tee shirts from Wal-Mart (small Size childrens) on the front of the shirts have the letters WELCOME. Then I made a wash tub and bubbles. The bubbles have each of my student's name on them and the title could say "Washing Into Fifth Grade" or "Bubbling Into Fifth Grade" Here is another idea I have used before I traced a juke box off of a projector before and colored it and then I took CDs and wrote each of the students name on them. It could say "Jammin in Fifth Grade" or "fifth Grade Rocks" Of course the are ideas I have borrrowed from other teachers. I hope this helps.

I made a music staff out of 5 long pieces of black yarn and created a glittery treble cleff. Then, I die cut small black ovals (using the inside part of a small "D" that you usually throw away) and created notes with them. I added a small black piece of contruction paper as the "line" next to the note. I put one student name on each note and stapled it to the staff using the music notes from "Ode to Joy." (I had to write their name on a white label and stick it to the note or else it wouldn't show on the black note). The border was from a teacher supply store and was piano keys. It turned out really sharp looking because of the black and white. I'm challenging the kids on the first day to find out what the name of the song is, who wrote it, and what is the name of the note that their name is written on.

I saw this idea on some website and I thought it was really neat and different.

I designed a board after the game show, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? I typed questions (using our state's core content) on flip-up cards with the answers underneath. The students from both the fourth and fifth grade enjoyed using the bulletin board!

I wanted to do a beach theme in my 5th grade classroom. I wanted to decorate my door with a palm tree and coconuts. I wanted to put the children's name on the coconuts. Any ideas for a catchy phrase??????

"Looks Who's Hangin' Out in 5Th Grade!" Bulletin board
Hang a clothesline, or white piece of yarn or string across the bulletin board length wise. Then use construction paper to cut out small 3-5 inch t-shirts. On each t-shirt write the student's name. Hang on the line with real clothespins. Use a blue background for sky and write the Title in the clouds. The kids love seeing their names as they enter the first day of school!
