to read Last Day Blues (also by Julie Annenberg?) to finish the year. It's the follow-up to First Day Jitters...

We did connections to First Day Jitters, but my stuff is at school...

Clip to ScrapBook #3

We use the Treasures reading series and the first story is first day jitters. I think my teacher's guide is at school, but I will continue to look around.
1. First Day Jitters:
(worksheet) After reading the story, discuss - We found out that everyone has jitters about starting a new school year - even the teacher! What kind of "jitters" or fears did you have before coming to 3rd grade?
Large rectangle to draw a picture followed by lines to write.

2. This is a worksheet with 2 columns of 3 squares, each numbered 1 - 6. ( Boy, I wish I had these on the computer. Is it making any sense???)
Directions: After listening to the story use each box to draw a part of the story that you saw n your head as you were listening. This time, pay attention to the pictures as you listen or reread the story and see if your pictures match the story. Can compare and contrast their differences and similarities as well.

3. I just came across the book " Mr. Ouchy's First Day" by B.G. Hennessy. ( Kids aren't the only ones who get nervous about starting school.) It makes a great lesson looking at both teachers and comparing and contrasting them. ( Looking at character traits) I may even ask the kids to compare the two teachers to me!
Hope this helps. I will keep looking!
