For those of you that use binders to organize your units for each subject what size binder do you use? Do you put the supplemental copy resourse stuff in there that goes along with the curriculum and copies from resourse books you buy? I want to get started doing this next week. Right now I have stuff in folders and all around. What about the transparencies do they get filed in the binder too?

I place tranparencies in protectice slips, and if I have made a copy from a resource book then I put that in there as well. I believe mine are 1.5 inch, but some are getting too full. I would go ahead if possible and invest in 2 inch binders. That just give your room to expand.

I usually use the really big ones. I also use page protectors, this way you don't have to worry about the holes getting torn. One summer I took all of my reproducible books and took them apart. I hated having files and books. This way I now just have one three ring binder per subject.

It seems scary to rip apart my reproducable books but I also hate having to look in my file drawer and through my resource books for stuff. Thanks for the help. I hope the binders are on sale this week.

I have mine organized by month. I believe mine are 1 1/2 in. as well. I am thinking about organizing mine by units, but I am afraid I will get overwhelmed with that when trying to sort through all those binders. Right now I have my units organized into plastic storage bins. This way I can put my books, materials, etc. in there too.

I have some 3" binders and some 2". I wouldn't go any smaller than 2" because like the previous poster said, you have room to expand. My reading binders are 3" and I have 2 of those (3 units in each binder), but that includes the spelling and language arts sheets that go with them. I just tore those right out of the book. Oh, and that includes the corresponding transparencies, too. All of my supplementals are still in books but I keep those on my bookshelf with the reading binders. I do the same for math, social studies, and science. Each subject has its own shelf and on the shelves I keep the binders, teacher's editions, and supplementals.

For monthly themes I have things in a binder for each month. Each of those binders are divided into sections, for example: February binder is divided into Dental Health, Valentine's Day, President's Day, etc.

Hope this helps.
