Classroom Library Pictures

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I would like to see some pictures of classroom libraries. I am trying to design my own and having some trouble. I am using the jungle theme this year. I saw several great pictures of huts made out of bamboo and large umbrellas but everywhere I have looked they are both too expensive. I small umbrella might work if I could find a cheep way to make it a little taller. Any ideas? Even though I am doing the jungle theme it would be interesting to see other ideas posted as well. Thanks a million!!

That's not a theme site, but your jungle idea sounds good.

Wow, I love that website!
I think I'm just going to start out with fiction and nonfiction this year, but that is definitely a goal to shoot for.

I cannot believe that library is in a classroom. That is better than my school's library!

I dream of having HALF of what she has, I look at it every day and still get ideas! I think every new teacher should be introduced to it during college ! I'd have loved to seen that when I was taking literacy courses!

I found her site last year and it is just awesome! If you go to her home page, then Academics, and Reading--at the bottom you will find the link for her Genre posters.

I still have a few things to finish up... not every basket has a finished label.
Yellow baskets are books in a series/author baskets
Black baskets are nonfiction
Purple baskets are class sets seperated in genre
Pink Baskets are fiction chapter books seperated by genre
Blue baskets are picture books seperated by genre
Red baskets are leveled social studies readers
Green baskets are leveled Science readers
Then there are various other baskets for books about math, holidays, poetry, character building and so on...
