Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am a first year teacher and I am sure I am missing something! I am making my last purchases for supplies for the room, such as posters and charts.

So far I have:

Schedule Pocket chart - need to make the subjects still
bulletin board borders
my welcome back "going bananas for 4th grade"
Writers workshop schedule pocket chart - need to make the different task
birthday poster to display bdays
bday bookmarks for gifts
bday pencils for gifts
tickets for behavior managment system
notebook to be used as a behavior logbook
ticket containers for tickets
abc cursive banner
locker shapes for assigning lockers

what other MUST HAVES am I missing? My mind is whirling!!

Thanks!

How about name plates. There are some nice ones with the multiplication charts or the phases of the moon on them. I also like the tape that has the cursive alphabet on them to put on the students desks. However, both of these items always seem to be pulled up esp.the tape. Oooh, what about overhead pens? I still need to buy some of those.

I know setting up the classroom is exciting. And shopping for stuff is even more fun! I've been getting my yearly "new school year buzz" for 15 years now.

I always create a class list check sheet in Excel. I leave some blank lines for any surprise arrivals too.

This way I have a way to track registration papers, supplies, and whatever else I want to track for the students.

LikeRead 4 Fun, I use Excel. One of the BEST things about that is being able to use Mail Merge. If you don't know how to use it, I highly recommend learning how. It saves me so much time. In a few clicks, I can make personalized name tags, labels, and forms for my whole class.

Here is a quick tip for manangement.. take a yellow legal pad.. and cut out the left sections so that they are in TAB form.. you can write a childs name on each "tab" and easily go to their page to write notes without anyone else seeing.. so helpful for conferences I have 3 one for behavior reading and writing notes.. if you have questions.. email me and Ill send a picture tcheer9@comcast.net
