Letter to parents to introduce while ST

I am beginning student teaching soon (students start tomorrow, but I have 4 weeks of block classes, then the classroom). Anyway, I think I would like to do a letter of introduction to send to the parents, but I don't know what to/not to include. Maybe something about who I am, where I went to college, but what else? Should I include how I will be involved in the classroom, what units I will teach, etc.? I'm not even really sure that most parents know what a student teacher is/does. Does anyone have any experience with this or have an example to share?

Thanks for everything, and I still haven't gotten any sleep. ARRGGHH....

When I did my student teaching I sent home a "brief" letter explaining the basics about myself. Here is an example of something I would have sent home:

Dear Parents,

Hello! My name is __________ and I will be a student teacher in your son/daughter's _____________ (first grade, second grade?)classroom for _________(maybe explain how long, weeks, months, etc..). I am from ____________ (say where you are from) and I am a senior at _____________ college where I am studying ______________ (maybe included the degree who are studying). I hope to make your child's learning experience a fun and exciting one. I am looking forward to working with your child this semester.

What's been suggested is good....The only thing I would add (for advice) is to ask your Supervising teacher to "read over" it, and she/he could add a letter on top of yours....just welcoming you to the campus/grade/class. You might have to have their permission and the principal's approval before you can send anything home with the students.

They shouldn't have a problem with it at all.

Good Luck! I hope you have a great experience! I still remember mine, and it's was EYE OPENING and Fantastic!!!
