my mother donated about 20 doctor seuss books to me. i would love to do something with them in my 2nd grade class, other than just put them into the classroom library. has anyone ever done a dr suess unit/book study? my kids read below grade level, so these books are good for them.
I usually do a big Dr. Seuss Unit near his birthday at the beginning of March. There are TONS of activities out there that go along with Dr. Seuss books. Plus, my kids always seem to love reading the books over and over! Here are a few links I had saved:
thank you! i'll check these sights out. i was also thinking that i might wait until his bday rolls around. by then, i'll want a break and do something fun with my kiddos and break away from the normal routine for a bit.
I took How the Grinch Stole Christmas and turned it into Reader's Theatre for my kids. Perhaps you could do that with one of his other ones?
A fun art activity (if you teach your own art) might be to have the kids create their own Dr. Seuss character. Or you could tie that into writing, and have them create a Dr. Seuss-esque character and write and illustrate a story about it.
Here is another link for Dr. Seuss, scroll down toward the bottom of the page. She has lots of ideas as well as a great template for the kids to use to create their own "creature" and write about it.
Hello,
Is there any way I could get a copy of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" reader's theatre. My students would love it.
