Today one of my kiddos helped another one (who has major issues) tuck his shirt in, button his pants, and fasten his belt. I literally wanted to cry. They are in K... and the other little one (who got the help!) was so happy. He was literally walking like he was on top of the world. Strutting around.

If all I ever had to deal with were my kids, no parents, or admin.. I'd teach until the day I died.

I love, love, LOVE when I see kindness and compassion in the kids! It's also a great reason to give a positive phone call or email to the parent of the child helping.

I would be thrilled, too. I love seeing children think of others and show kindness.

This reminds me of my students who come in the year speaking no English and then they end up helping the students who come in mid year speak. I have one student this year who entered only knowing "hello" and now he is the second teacher in the room! It's so heart warming.

And you obviously have enstilled an environment in which students understand the importance of helping others!

I had one of those moments yesterday as well!

I teach 1st and had a child on a rampage around the room grabbing things from others.

My kids were in small groups and one group was at a table with a big stack of Dr. Seuss books to read. The 4 boys around the table each had a book open reading, and my little terror kept grabbing the books from their hands. I have to say, each time he grabbed a book from one of the others, they would just reach to the center of the table and grab a new one and start reading again!

Considering that is a normally pretty volatile group of boys, I was shocked at how calm they were and how they just ignored the issue!
