I went to Dollar Tree today and as I was checking out, the cashier asked me if I was a teacher. I said yes, showed my teacher ID and got 10% of my total purchase!

I love Dollar Tree, and they just opened one in my area. I will have to ask about the teacher discount next time I shop there. I notice a lot of businesses are getting on the bandwagon, including Michael's and A.C. Moore, besides the usual office supply chains. Since Dollar Tree has a section of teacher supplies, it only makes for good business for them to do likewise. Thanks again!

A precious poster mentioned a discount at Michaels. Other than a couple of weeks ago when it was an advertised special, I have been told in the past that Michaels doesn't offer a discount. Has this changed? I hope so!

Well, that's odd. I used to get a discount at Dollar Tree, but now they told me that they don't give them anymore.

In order for teachers to get a discount at Dollar Tree in my area, we have to send in a copy of our Credential to their headquarters. I haven't done that because I'm not comfortable sending something that could potentially get into the wrong hands.

The discount I would receive on merchandise that is already SO inexpensive isn't worth that risk to me.

I was in JoAnn's Fabrics today and they had a big sign at the register that said there is a discount for teachers buying items for their classrooms. I use fabric on my bulletin boards and I wouldn't mind a discount on it. You need to show your id. I think that they give you a discount card also.

First, I've always been told (after seeing on here that Michaels does offer a discount), that Michaels doesn't have a teacher discount except for their teacher appreciation week.

I didn't know anything about the Dollar Tree one either--have to look in to that.

As far as JoAnn, they do offer 10% off all items, but you must have a teacher discount coupon--sign up here online: http://www.about-joann-stores.joann....n/discount.php
You also get a coupon for a one time discount of 25% off your entire purchase.

EDIT--I just looked at the form, and it says a 15% discount now!!!

See, that's what they used to tell me. Not anymore.
