picture books with "rules" theme

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am looking for a list of suggested books to read when discussing rules and rule making with 3rd graders.
I have used Lillys Purple Plastic Purse (Henkes) in 1st grade in the past, but now I am moving up to 3rd and needing some new titles.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Officer Buckle and Gloria is a good one to use when making rules.

Someone on PT recently recommended If Everybody Did by Jo Ann Stover. It's soooo cute!

It is great for all grades! elementary at least!

I used it in 5th and now in 2nd....after we read it and discuss it - we make our own "If Everybody Did"Book making our own situations! This really hits it home for the kids!
Have fun!

Miss Nelson is Missing

Miss Nelson is Missing is a cute story for talking about behaving in school. Miss Nelson's students are bad. Miss Nelson disappears and the substitute is very mean and makes the students listen. When Miss Nelson comes back, the students behave. After reading, I pose the question, how can we keep Miss Viola Swamp (mean substitute) from coming to our classroom? The kids love the book and there are a few more Miss Nelson books to read later in the year.

I teach 3rd, and I still use Lily's Purple Plastic Purse! It went over really well, and gave a great discussion on following rules and respecting authority.
