I would like to make a playlist on my ipod for a classroom. What tunes do you suggest. I have come up with the following.

Celebration- celebrating good times
Happy Trails- To play when getting ready to leave
Walking on Sunshine- celebrations'
Takin Care of Business- clean up

Any other ideas?

During group work or when we need to work on respect, I play "RESPECT." When we clean up I play "At the Carwash"

includes a lot of mellow jack johnson and george winston (interesting piano music). It's very reflective and calm to have playing in the background while we're working.

I second Jack Johnson...my kids love his mellow and childish songs, especially from the Curious George soundtrack. Speaking of, any of the "hit songs" off of the latest kids' movies work well--but preview before you play.

And don't forget classical music, too.

Another one of my favorites is the "hawaiian" version of "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" by Is'rael K....(something!!) I can't remember the last name, but it is really long--if you can't find the song, it is always on the top of the charts for world music on iTunes.

I just love songs! Anything goes really in my room (within reason), but you can't beat:

* Toot toot, chugga chugga, Big Red Car- The Wiggles (it's just fun and anything by this kids' Aussie band is super)
* Many Elvis songs
* 'He's got the whole world in his hands'- not very religious, but a great sing-along.
* Shannon Noll sings a hit song which is a real fave of my classes called 'Drive'.
* I am an Elephant of India- Bindi Irwin CD/DVD songs (the late Steve Irwin Croc Hunter's daughter)
* She'll be Comin' round the Mountain (seems to be good to work to)
* The Fraggle Rock tune
* Hi-5 is a groovy kids band from Australia who are absolutely brilliant!!
* Hap Palmer (his voice is very calming)

That's all I can think of at the moment! Have fun.
