Hey, ESL board! No posts in the last 60 days??? It's depressing!

Really, though...In Illinois it means you're so busy trying to organize and carry out ACCESS testing (somehow without disturbing anyone else's schedule!!) that you haven't had time to visit!!

How's everyone doing!?

Summer Holidays

I'm on summer holiday - we go back next Friday, 27th.

I'm expecting a pretty boring year. My town isn't currently getting a lot of immigration, and my ESL students have mostly been in the country two years or more. Because of that, I'm not allowed to withdraw, but must spend my time in other people's classrooms. This leads to me inevitably being treated as an extra aide.

Like I said, boring. Maybe we'll get a sudden influx of new arrivals in the next seven days?

That's right! You're in the opposite corner of the world! 😊 We just returned from Winter break and it's been one mad rush after another!
I hope your school year goes super well!
We had 47 new kids just after break! We always have an influx after breaks.

ACCESS testing

I came to PT today specifically looking for information about ACCESS testing. This is my first year as an ESL teacher (23 years as a Gen. Ed. Teacher).
I'm trying to wrap my brain around all of the different days and groups of testing. Do you have a trick for organizing your test days and groups?

I'm in a K-4 school.
