Will be starting that novel in 2 weeks. Any resources to share?

Are you referring to Notice and Note? I used it with our last novel and the responses from the kids were phenomenal. The admin couldn't get over it!

Plus, I just ordered this book, is it too young for a fifth grade read aloud?

NO not at all...I did it as a read aloud last year...the kids loved it. There is a video on utube about the Lost Boys of Sudan, and an interview with the author I show the kids..to give them some background knowledge..

FLNUT This book is an excellent resource!! Our fifth grade team has been conducting a book study on this book. The authors are Kylene Beers and Robert E Probst. They provide 6 text dependent anchor questions for students to identify in their reading, they are called sign posts. These sign posts each have a question a student is to ask himself f in order to closely analyze the text. It is so student friendly! The authors have tried these lessons in real classrooms and are honest about what worked and what didn't. It is a great read! There are many free resources all over the internet to use with Notice and Note. They also have a facebook page which has many resources and ideas!

https://www.amazon.com/Notice-Note-S...otice+and+note

I highly recommend the book!!
