Grade 1 Ontario Report Card Comments

Hello. Would anyone be willing to share their grade 1 comments for report cards? The classroom teacher very suddenly quit and moved out of province - that's what I've been told anyway. I've have been in the class since December. While I have some of her notes/grades, I have NOTHING for report card comments. Anyone willing to share? I would be most grateful!

I am retired so my comments would be 5 years old.
When are your reports due?

We had Board-wide pre-approved comments that we could use.
Plus we worked as a team and developed our own comments that the admin pre-approved before we started doing our reports. This really cut down on the proof-reading and corrections after we handed reports in for approval before printing.

Are there other grade 1 teachers in your school that would be willing to work as a team?

I think our Board-approved comments are probably on the Board website but I no longer have access to Staff Resources.

I would really like to help you, just trying to figure out how I can do it.

I will gladly take your own comments, even if they are 5 years old. At least they are a starting point for me. The other grade 1 teacher does not seem keen on sharing. I asked her for some help and she brushed me off saying something along the line of "nobody helped me". I'm on my own there.
Reports are due Feb.6. I've been given a bit of an extension.

I am so sorry!
I taught for over 30 years and I bet someone helped me ever single day of my career in one way or another. I helped others.

Teachers need mentors and partners!

How can I send my comments to you?
Remember they are out of date.
Do you have the growing with success document?
I think that is what is still used.
Did you check with your union (I was ETFO) to see if there are pre-approved Board wide comments?

Can you use bullet comments or do they have to sentences?
We used Maplewood.
The programme would insert the student's name in the {name} part of the comment.

I will try to attach some to this post. But I would rather email them to you.

Hello. I was able to download the language and math comments. They give me a very good starting point. I'll just tweak them to fit what was taught. It would be great to be able to write the report in bullet point form, but we have to write them in sentences and individualize them for each student. I'll just need to figure work out art, drama, science and social studies. I plan on speaking to my principal about maybe finding a mentor on staff. I think it's a great suggestion and I certainly could use one to help answer my questions and concerns. Many thanks to you for your help and for sharing with a fellow teacher. Appreciated more than I can say.

Glad you got them
I will go ahead and post my other comments for the other subjects.
I think the Science and Social Curriculum Guides have been re-written since I retired.
They may not be at all appropriate depending on the new documents.

I hope you get a mentor but don't restrict yourself to your own school. I mentored a new teacher from a different school. She was amazing, and is now one of my dearest friends. There are lots of great grade teachers out there. Keep posting here.

Again, let me know if you get the science, social studies, arts and learning skills comments.
