Clip to ScrapBook #1

Often times while I am in the classroom my students say some weird things. Sometimes it catches me off guard and I laugh. But what is an appropriate reaction to those type things? Should I just ignore what they say or should I say something?

If they are saying it to get me to react, I will often ignore or, even better, pretend I didn't hear them and ask them to repeat it... Most often, that will cause others to look up and they are too embarrassed to do so.

If it is inappropriate or off topic, but mildly so, the teacher look will suffice. If it is really bizarre but not necessarily inappropriate, I will sometimes laugh and then give them a quizzical look.

I don't think that there is one set way to answer this...Sometimes, they are just funny...
