Hi All....I am currently a 2nd Grade Teacher and moving to 5th Grade next year. Do I NEED to have an endorsement? If anyone could help with information on this, I would appreciate it.

I wish I could help you with this information. I'm not sure what kind of school you work at, the rules within your state, and what your current endorsement is. I've moved from 2nd to 5th but my teaching license covers preK to 6th grades so the move would be well within my endorsement.

I think what you need to do is look at your teaching certificate that you got from your state. Look and see what grades you can teach. I would think your principal would have done that before moving you....

has different rules.

As suggested, look at the paperwork from your college and/or on your teaching license.

I would also think human resources in your district would have this info...and that your principal would have checked this before moving you.

JUST A NOTE: Many people at ProTeacher write about endorsements. I am not sure what those are. In WI, I am certified K-8 classroom, K-12 library, and K-12 reading. Are those considered endorsements?
