My daughter currently has had a student teacher this semester in her Kindergarten classroom. Her time is almost come to an end and I would like to give her some books to add to her personal library. Do you have any favorite read-alouds that you love to read to your class? Thanks!

The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak.

My K students love it every year. It's their favorite.

I think that anything she can use at the beginning of the school year would be such a help. If she does teach kindergarten next year then she already has some things to start out with. We love the No David books at the beginning of the year, Peter's Chair, Pete the Cat books, and any book that is about starting kindergarten.

Thanks for the suggestions! Coming from an upper elementary and middle school background, I feel clueless!! I'll do some online shopping tonight.

If it were me, I would get a little variety for throughout the year, such as:
The Kissing Hand
Pete The Cat Rockin' In My School Shoes
A Turkey For Thanksgiving
The Mitten
The Gingerbread Baby
Katie & The Snowman
Clever Tom & The Leprechaun
Chickens Aren't The Only Ones
Monster Bugs

Any National Geographic kids books on typical kinder topics - bugs, butterflies, animals, holidays, important people in history such as Lincoln, Washington, MLK, Jr., etc.

Does she own Harry Wong's, "First Day of School?" That's one of the best professional books out there for beginning teachers.
