My daughter currently has had a student teacher this semester in her Kindergarten classroom. Her time is almost come to an end and I would like to give her some books to add to her personal library. Do you have any favorite read-alouds that you love to read to your class? Thanks!

Do you know what grades she hopes to teach?

I love Ruth Heller's "Chickens Aren't the only Ones" which is appropriate for primary. Any/all Leo Lionni books, The Important Book and Owl Babies are all favorites of mine. There are endless wonderful choices! Think themes and holidays too!

A visitor donated it to our class and we love it. It's about making friends. We also love, Jean the Recess Queen. Elephant and Piggie books are great.

I believe she will be getting an early elementary license. Thanks for your suggestion!

Pete the Cat books
Eric Carle books

If it is early elementary maybe some books with rhymes or poetry. So many young children are not exposed to nursery rhymes anymore and it is fundamental to phonemic awareness.
