What do you use in your school to help teach grammar skills for Common Core? We currently do not have a basal any more and are looking for ways to help incorporate grammar in a more intentional manner. Are there any stand alone ideas/programs? We would appreciate any ideas before we start making our own things.

Mentor Sentences!

Mechanically Inclined is the book that explains the value of teaching grammar with mentor texts.

I bought Jivey's unit from TPT so that I didn't have to make up all my lessons from scratch, and it is worth every penny.

I use them in 5th, but she has units for primary grades too.

This is our first year to use Mentor Sentences. We follow the TEKS and the scope and sequence from our district. We pull resources from TPT, Pinterest, etc. We like Mentor Sentences, but it's not enough in my opinion.

We use School House Rock videos to introduce parts of speech, etc. And some grammaropolis (I have no idea if I spelled that correctly). Definitely not used to teach, just to add a little fun.

We use Daily Language Review- I also use worksheetworks.com for specific practice. Students complete DLR as a part of their morning work.
