I am preparing to do my student teaching next school year. I was given the option of one 16 week placement or two 8 week placements. Have other people been given the same option? Which would you choose and why?

There are pros and cons to both. Many moons ago I had two placements. The perks we're that I got to work in two different grades, 2nd & 5th. It also helped me see two different styles of teaching and classroom management.

The cons were that by the time I got real comfortable in my first placement it was time to move on. Not long enough to really develop a good rapport with the students.

Not sure which I would choose if I had the option...aren't I helpful???

I didn't have an option and had to do two 8 week placements. I would recommend it as teachnkids said it does give you chance to see 2 different teaching styles, different grade levels, and different connections in a school. I also think that it is good to have it as experience when going on interviews. Plus, you might not "connect" with your cooperating/mentor teacher. I didn't connect with my first placement teacher, but totally did with my second placement teacher.
