list of realistic fiction chapter books
Old 09-24-2007, 06:01 PM

I'm assigning the first book report of the year next week and want to give my students a list of possible books (of course they can choose others, but I just want a basic guide). The genre is realistic fiction. I've compiled a short list of ones i can think of along with some that I've googled.

Does anyone have a list they'd be willing to share so I can add to it?

Here are a few off the top of my head...I teach 3rd (not sure what grade you are looking for)...

Marvin Repost Series (Louis Sachar)
Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Judy Blume)
Because of Winn Dixie (Kate DiCamillo)
How to be Cool in 3rd Grade (Betsy Duffey)
Fourth Grade Rats (Spinelli)
Frindle (Andrew Clements)
Ramona the Brave (Beverly Cleary)

You may want to check into additional books by the authors mentioned above. Many of them have additional realistic fiction books.

It is 4th grade.

I would like for them all to read a chapter, or lengthier book, but I do have quite a few low readers.
