I will be teaching a class on TV Production. I have no experience and apparently I found out today, there is no curriculum for it, either. Is there a curriculum anywhere out there that anyone uses? Any kind of lesson plans that I can look at and begin learning this summer before the school year begins? It will be 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

I'm afraid I can't be much help with the class, but my husband was the techie guru at our middle school, and did something with the kids that may be up your alley.

He got the school to purchase a large flat screen TV for the school commons, which is also where the students eat lunch. The students created a newsy program that looped throughout the lunch hour. Besides announcements, they had slide shows of the school garden, and "happenings" in other classes like shop, chemistry, PE, etc. The students loved seen themselves on the TV.

Search Vimeo and YouTube for middle school news shows. You'll find lots of things. Consider contacting the schools whose programs look like a good fit for your students.

My undergraduate degree is in communications. I took TV production in college. It was a fun course. YouTube is a good source. I'll see what I can find.

I think searching TV production syllabus on Google is your best bet in directing you.
