Ellison die cut machine

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I teach first grade in a small Christian school and have already posted this question on the private school board, but thought I could get some more responses on this board too. I have been thinking about all kinds of ideas for my school next year and was thinking that I would absolutely LOVE for our school to have an Ellison die cut machine! I used one when I was student teaching in a public school and I loved it! It came in so handy for bulletin boards and centers and I think our teachers at my school would benefit if we had one. The problem is, there's no way our small Christian school is going to fork over money to buy one. I know the machines are expensive, plus all the dies would cost a lot of money. So my question is, does anyone know where we can get one? I've checked on craigslist and had no luck. It would be nice if a local school could give us an old one, or if a local school system had one in a surplus sale, but I'm having no luck on that end either. Suggestions? Has anyone gotten an Ellison die cut machine for free or cheap?

It sounds like that would be a good thing for something like Donors Choose.

Oops! I think you have to be a public school to use Donors Choose. Maybe some other crowd sourcing group?

A Silhouette is an electronic cutting tool. You can also hook it up to a computer with special software and cut out pretty much anything.

If you search Youtube, you'll find a ton of videos. Basically, you can cut any shape you want any size you want. I think it would fit your needs well.

Teacherpippi is correct. I have both access to die cut materials and dh bought me a silhouette 2 years ago. It's a fabulous much more efficient tool.
