I have been assigned the Yearbook Advisor position for my middle school (grades 6-8). It's a new job in a new district, so I had to accept. I've only "helped" out on yearbooks in the past - and have no clue where to start!
Any advice/suggestions will be welcome!!

Last year was my first year being in charge of midschool yearbook, and I had never even helped on one before. I used Treering.com. Their books are soft cover, with the option of hard cover, and very reasonably priced. Parents ordered online, so the books were prepaid. The Treering staff also were very helpful.

I had a hard time getting student photographers who could actually take a decent picture, so I constantly asked other staff to share any photos they might have, and asked coaches to ask parents. I edited pictures if needed, uploaded them to folders on the Treering site, and had students lay out the pages.

Pm me, and I'll send you a referral from Treering.

Who did it last year? I also did this once in a new school. Ugh, it was a bit of a pain. However, I was expected to use the same company as the school did the previous year.

I met with the representative from the company. He would come to the school. They were also in charge of school pictures and ids. They had their own computer program to use. The students would pick templates and inset the pictures.

The tricky part was the editing and making sure names were spelled correctly. Also, make sure you don't leave any staff out. They tend to get really irritated with you even if it is not your fault.

Hope you have a great year!

The person whose job I replaced did the yearbook - I start orientation tomorrow so hopefully I will find out more.

Thanks!
