Hi there!

I'm a new 5th grade teacher that has been asked to help pilot Lucy Caulkins Reading and Writing Workshops. I tried reading the books, I really did, but holy cow was that a lot. I managed to find a nice breakdown of her reading books with mini lessons and standards but I haven't had any luck finding content related to her writing books. Does anyone know where I can find some mini lessons about writing workshop? Bonus points will be awarded if it has the relevant standards attached to it. I only got these books last Monday and school is this Thursday so I'm in a bit of a bind. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to fifth grade! Here's my advice: I'm using Lucy Caulkins too. The books are kinda scripted out for you. Don't feel like you have to read the entire set of books! If school starts Thursday, then begin reading the one about Narrative Writing. It flat out tells you what to say for each lesson!! As you become familiar with the fifth grade curriculum, you can start expanding on your own. But the lessons aren't hard to do. Just read the script. They do the mini lessons for you.
